Assignment Tutorial
 
The Assignment Tool is used for exchanging files between the instructor and the student. The instructor can attach and retrieve a file, apply a grade, comments, and then return the file to the student. Below are instructions for the student to follow when submitting an assignment using the Assignment Tool.

The Assignment Tool is located on the Assessment Tool page. From the homepage in your online course, select the Assessment Tool icon, and then select the Assignment Tool icon.

1. Select the Assessments icon from your course homepage. Figure 1

Upload Assignment:

1. From the Assignment Tool page, locate the title of the assignment you need to complete. Notice each assignment has a designated availability, grade and status. You will also find three different icons which indicate if an assignment is available, late, or due soon. To open the assignment, click on the assignment title link. Figure 3

2. From the assignment information page, you will find a maximum grade, due date, instructions, related assignment files, submission directions, and notification information.

Locate the Submit Assignment directions near the bottom of the screen. If you have not submitted your assignment you will find a status message of "not submitted" and your student files will indicate "none".

3. To upload your completed assignment, click Upload File.

4. Select Browse to locate your file.

Select File   5. Locate your assignment file on your computer. Select the file and hit the Open button. Figure 6

6. The directory structure to your assignment file will be placed in the filename textfield.

Select Upload to add your file to the assignment tool. Figure 7

Submitting Your Assignment:

1. You should now be able to locate your uploaded assignment file under Student Files.

Notice you may select the checkbox next to the assignment to remove the file if needed. This is useful if you accidentally upload the wrong assignment file.

  3. You will receive a confirmation. Select OK to proceed and submit your assignment.

Status of Assignment:
From the main assignment screen, you will find the status of your assignment is now "Submitted". Once your instructor grades your assignment, the grade points will appear. Until then you will find a dash in place of your grade.
