Course
Description |
This
course is designed to provide students with a fundamental working knowledge
of voice, data, and video telecommunications that can be applied in
their business and personal lives. The course introduces telecommunications
networks, transmitting, receiving, and satellite technologies. Topics
covered in this course include basic communication theory, fundamentals
of telephone systems, components of data communications systems, and
basic Web page development using an HTML editor. This course or sections
of this course may be offered through distance education.

- Identify fundamental
principles and concepts of telecommunication systems
- Identify common
terminology used within the telecommunication industry

telephone network systems and services

Class -NOT- Self-Paced Correspondence Class |
CBTE-200 is
a demanding course which requires a lot of organized student
effort on an almost daily basis. This is an online class, not a self-paced
class. You are expected to login to this class at least four times
a week. You must have regular access to the course-required software.
By the end of each week, you will be expected to (1) submit basic info
using WebCT's email service, (2) Post a Discussion Board Message & Respond to Other Student Postings, (3) Take an online concepts quiz, (3) Upload and submit answers to text discussion questions, (4)
Upload your solution file(s) for any assigned lab exercise, and (5) Access
Announcements and Class Discussion Boards. Additional exercises and projects
will be assigned on a regular basis during the course.
Students taking
this class must be aware of school policies with respect to
plagiarism and academic cheating. College Procedure 3100.3, [copies
can be obtained in the Office of the VP, Student Services],
describes the Academic and Administrative Sanctions for students who
are found to be cheating. Several students have been removed from
recent CBTE-200 classes with appropriate sanctions for using someone
else's work or allowing their work to be used by another. You must
NEVER use another student's file! You must Never allow any of your
files to be used by another student! Please be alerted in advance!!!

Please
complete tutorials on how to use the course tools within WebCT prior to starting your course.
Face-to-face (in class) 1-hour orientations on how to use WebCT.
Orientation will cover how to login
to WebCT, navigating in WebCT, technology requirements and
troubleshooting, sample online course, strategies for
success in an online course. Please attend one of these optional orientations for help
and information about online courses.
