This kit contains the CD (software) you will need to install on your computer for your online course. Your computer must meet the computer requirements for the software. Students must be able to upload the software to their computer. You must have your kit to begin your course. You must purchase the latest 10th Edition to complete your course.
Optional: Flash drive to save your work.

Must have access to a PC (No Mac). The keyboarding software may only be installed on a PC.

Purchase Textbooks Online at the SDCCD Online Bookstore and at San Diego City College Bookstore.

Course Description

 

Keyboarding for computers is designed for all individuals needing to master keyboarding/typing skills. Students will learn to input on the computer by the touch method. This course is designed for students who want to learn how to keyboard by touch.

 

Course Objectives

 

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. Keyboard the alpha keys using the touch method of operation with proper techniques.
2. Input numeric data using the 10-key pad by the touch method.
3. Input alpha characters at a minimum speed of 20 wpm.
4. Identify and operate the components of a computer.

Course Specific Information

 

·         Students must log into WebCT course and read their syllabus within the first two days of the session/semester or they may be dropped by your instructor.

·         Student must be able to set up their computer and install the software correctly.  Please follow the user’s guide carefully.

·         Students should have basic computer skills.  Visit SDCCD ONLINE website for more information on how to prepare for your online course.  I would suggest completing the WebCT tutorial before beginning your course.

·         Since keyboarding is a skill, students must be self-motivated.  Students must have a reliable internet connection.

·         Students must meet due dates; there are no excused absences.

Application and Registration Information

 

REGISTRATION DIRECTIONS:

  1. Complete Online Application (for new SDCCD students). Go to Student Web Services
  2. Receive registration appointment and instructions by email or mail.
  3. Register online at the Reg-e, our online registration system
  4. Make sure that you pay your tuition so that you don't lose your registration!

  5. Order textbooks online. Visit our online bookstore.

6.  After completion of registration on Reg-e, and several days prior to the start of the semester, you will receive an email with course login instructions. If you don't receive an email please go to http://www.sdccdonline.net and login on the first day of class as follows:

Type your WebCT ID = 7-digit College Student Identification (CSID) number
Type your Password =  mmddyyyy (birthdate with no hyphens, slashes, or spaces)
For example:  1010101 (CSID number used at registration)
                          06231980 (password for birthdate June 23, 1980

  1.  If this course is closed, please login to Reg-e to be placed on a waitlist. If the waitlist is full, you will not be able to add your name to the waitlist.

You will not be able to login to your online course until the first day of the semester!!!
You must login to your online course on the first day of the session to avoid your enrollment being dropped. Follow the login instructions at
