Brief Description:
Online access to learning materials clearly play an important part in improving the teaching and learning process, even for students who take part in face-to-face classroom instruction. In addition they also help to bring more FTE’s onto a college campus.

One challenge institutions face when creating these online teaching materials is that (outside a small percentage of early adopters and technology-savvy educators) many teachers are not skilled, motivated, or compensated for developing media-rich teaching tools.

The good news is a large pool of potential media-savvy helpers are ready to help. Our students! Encouraging our learners to produce audio and video teaching materials helps them learn, gets them excited about participating in their education experience, and provides a wealth of online media: captioned, approved by faculty, and ready to share. All for the price of a grade!

The framework for this approach exists and is being piloted by a number of institutions at the community college level. Still, no institution has adopted the approach wholesale, leaving room for you to seize the lead with this exciting new teaching model!
