Frank has been actively involved with learning assistance for the past 30 years. He was the founder and past coordinator (1972-1990) of the award-winning Learning Assistance Support System at CSU Long Beach. His early editorial contributions included guest editor and contributor to the Jossey-Bass New Directions for Learning Assistance series (1981) and founding columnist (1981-87) of the Journal of Developmental Education "Techtalk" Series. He is also the co-developer and content editor of LSCHE, the web portal for learning support center resources. His latest publications are 100 Things Every Online Student Ought to Know , Revised Edition (Cambridge Stratford Publishing, 2007) and Online Student Skills and Strategies Handbook (Allyn & Bacon, 2005). He has taught online graduate courses in learning support centers and in teaching and facilitating college learning skills. He has presented workshops on faculty support for online students at tech conferences such as Syllabus, TechEd, and California Virtual Campus. He also has presented workshops on integrating learner support in Blackboard and WebCT courses.
